Privacy Policy

NightShift is designed to run entirely on your Mac. This policy explains the little data the app touches and why — there is no account system, no analytics, and no advertising.
What NightShift does not do
- No analytics or usage tracking of any kind
- No crash reporting sent to us or any third party
- No advertising or ad identifiers
- No account, sign-in, or server-side profile
- No continuous or background location tracking
Location
NightShift needs your approximate coordinates to calculate sunrise and sunset times. You type a city or address once during setup; that text is sent to Apple's geocoding service to resolve it into a latitude and longitude. NightShift does not use continuous GPS tracking and has no access to your Mac's live location — the resolved coordinate is saved locally on your device and the app runs fully offline afterward, recalculating solar times itself with no further network requests.
What's stored, and where
All preferences — your resolved location, color temperature settings, schedule mode, bedtime settings, and launch-at-login preference — are stored locally inUserDefaultson your Mac. None of it is transmitted anywhere, synced to a server, or accessible to us.
Third parties
The only outside service NightShift talks to is Apple's geocoding service, used solely to resolve the address you type during location setup. NightShift includes no third-party SDKs, no ad networks, and no analytics libraries.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the "last updated" date above will change with it. Material changes will also be reflected in the app's release notes.
