My display isn't changing color at all.
Check the mode shown in the menu bar popover — if it's set to Off, NightShift won't adjust anything. Also confirm at least one display is connected and awake; NightShift skips displays that are asleep or disconnected.
The colors reset after my Mac wakes up or I reconnect a monitor.
This is expected on macOS itself, not a bug — the OS resets each display's color profile on wake and on display reconfiguration. NightShift detects both and reapplies your settings automatically within a second.
Does NightShift need Location Services permission?
No. You type a city or address once during setup, and NightShift resolves it to coordinates a single time. It never requests continuous location access and doesn't appear in System Settings → Privacy → Location Services.
Does it work with multiple monitors?
Yes — NightShift applies the same color temperature to every active display.
How do I get my screen back to normal immediately?
Switch to Day or Off mode from the menu bar popover, or quit the app — quitting always restores your displays to neutral first.
Where are my settings stored?
Locally on your Mac only, via UserDefaults. Nothing is synced to a server or account. See the Privacy Policy for details.
Does NightShift replace macOS Night Shift?
It's an alternative, not a companion — running both at once can fight over the same display gamma settings, so pick one.
